Micro Move Trend
I recently read an article on Realtor.com about "micro-moving." Apparently in 2026 the term for what a lot of us have been doing has a new, catchy name.
The article describes an increasingly common trend of local moves with fewer boxes, less furniture and faster turnaround. Taskrabbit's data backs it up. Searches for "minimal," "small load," and "fewer items" are all climbing, and so are same-day bookings.
Boca Totes fits naturally into this growing micro-move trend. Palm Beach and Broward Counties are home to a growing number of businesses, universities, and a popular destination for snowbirds. According to census data, 3.6 million people reside in these two counties, and about 6-9% relocate annually within these desirable locations.
That's somewhere between 215,000 and 325,000 people who move annually right in our backyard. A large share of them look exactly like a micro-move: a short drive, a lighter load, and a transition timeline measured in days, not weeks. Snowbirds moving between seasonal homes, students heading home between semesters, and young professionals relocating for a new job across town are all examples of moves that don't necessarily require a full-service moving company or a truckload of cardboard boxes. They need something fast, sturdy, and sized to the job. For Boca Totes this represents a growing opportunity to serve people who don't need a traditional moving company, but still need a better way to move their belongings.
